This is the new philosophy behind the LTA's GrassRoots tennis scheme. Making player's, particularly juniors more competitive and focused on achieving success is a key step forward in producing world class tennis player's. Andy Murray is an example of this. The fiery competitor in him, and his dedication to reach the top, are clearly showing results. RankingsRankings are use as well as ratings to see how well you are performing compared to those around you. Often grouped by county so you can see how you are doing in your area. For juniors the rankings are grouped by age: Under 12's, Under 14's, Under 16's and Under 18's. There is also an Open group, where anyone of any age can enter. The ranking is calculated over a 12 month period, with your best six results being used. There are lots of tennis tournaments being held in your area where you can improve your ranking. Check out the Find a Tournament page from the LTA. Check out who is at the top of the rankings in your county by using the LTA Ranking Search. For more information on Player Ratings, have a look at the LTA FAQ. |
